This month, March newsletter... 2 touring friends will join me on the April tour.

I will do 2 nights on a private farm at Aussenkehr.

Itinerary or tour planning on this blog!

With my tour planning I intend to "stealth" 5 nights. I already made a few changes to my tour car and please follow the video with this issue! With this video I'll focus a lot on stealth and window covers! .

In future, Louis also intend to do such a tour. You must just follow this blog to help your own preparations.  You guys have regular clear windows... and in the video I'll give you tips to black out windows should you intend such a tour and the reasons why you have to do it!

Remember, a tour vehicle stay a DIY project that needs constant changes!

For the intended touring group, I'll add a second PDF about vehicle pre-clearance and how I do it.

LETS GO... NEWSLETTER FOR MARCH 2019!

   Video with this issue...

There are still a few changes I want to make with the front screen. It sag's out a bit and I have a plan! After I'm finished, there should be no little opening anywhere.

AND another relevant video! I made this video in 2017 before my Namibia bike tour.

TOUR PLANNING AND PREPARATION.

I had another tour friend interested to join the tour, but our tour party and itinerary is already planned and we are already at the maximum vehicles and people for the bookings made. We cannot accommodate for a larger tour group. Maybe next time!

Henk came around and I had fitted my second 2 way radio in Henk's tour vehicle. The magnet antenna isn't really good enough and I mounted the radio antenna on the front bull bar of his vehicle.
From the photo, you'll notice, Henk's vehicle windows properly "blacked out" and he have the necessary ZA and required signs on the vehicle as they had done border crossings many times.

Myself and Henk will stealth according to his method, that sounds very good to me. Meaning I have to get my set-up a bit better. I can learn a lot from him! He's giving me good advice on small aspects.

Thanks! Henk brought me a front screen with the wire rings that works better. Now I have to carefully undo all the stitching from my "old" front screen thing... and place the curtain material on that one!
I took me about an hour to carefully remove my front curtain from the reflective and sew it on to the screen cover I got from Henk! Awesome! It's a 100 times better!
This is a great solution for a front screen!
I think I have my window covers perfect now, and the door can open with cover on to slip in and out!
Awesome!

I have walked outside around my car and tried to find anywhere to peep into the car... Nothing! Perfect!

Basic itinerary and may change...

Day 1: Depart Ladismith towards N7 via Wolseley. We will continue driving into the night just as I did with my previous Namibia trips. The idea is to stealth in the early morning hours at either Garies or Kammieskroon.

Day 2: Border crossing at Vioolsdrift/Noordoewer. Okkie will enter Namibia at Nakop/ Ariamsvlei and travel via Karasburg to Noordoewer. They will do shopping in Karasburg. I do shopping in Aussenkehr. (Remember not to take meat products and alcohol through the border!)

Day 3: We will just all relax at the campsite.

Day 4: Okkie will depart for the Richtersveld via Sendlingsdrift. They have 4x4 vehicles and my car cannot negotiate the 4x4 routes. I will go to a private farm at Aussenkehr where I will do photos for my gallery collection.

Day 5: Okkie in the Richtersveld, I'm in Aussenkehr.

Day 6: All arrive back at the river camp.

Day 7: At leisure in the river campsite.

Day 8: The whole party, all of us, will drive to Ariamsvlei/Nakop and we overnight in Upington at a river camp. This will be our final night together as Okkie will go back to Gauteng via Botswana. (Okkie also have a 4x4 ORRA radio in his vehicle and we all can communicate on route.)

Day 9: Upington.

Day 10. Okkie on his way and I will do a campsite in Groblershoop.

Day 11. Groblershoop.

Day 12: Back to Ladismith via Prieska, N12, Beaufort West and Oudtshoorn.

We have set aside 2 extra nights for any great place... meaning a tour of 14 days. I'll revise the tour budget as I initially described in the newsletter.

Awesome camping rates for April tour... I e-mail for a rate. They would give us a river front site for R200. 2 vehicles allowed... 4 persons... come to R50 per person per night. That's cheap so we'll stay another night there! In Upington, is still R80 pp pn. There we will stay according to plan... but in Groblershoop, R80 pp pn. That's cheap! It seems like we will all benefit form the group travel! I don't think stealth camping is an option as the camping rates are good enough!

For my blog readers! Meet Okkie! Watch the video!

This will be my best tour ever!

The objective of this tour, is a photo tour. I received a few mails about our planned activities. Well there isn't any other activities other than PHOTOS, eat, sleep and travel. Someone else also asked about the dates... Its still to far to announce the fixed dates.
My camera set up for Bulb mode. Basically Okkie described in the video that his favorite mode is night shots in bulb mode.... long exposures. I intend to do reflections, bulb and I want to try something I learned form Thomas that you met in my January newsletter.

For my followers... Our Tour will run from the 4th week in April into May. During March I have to go to Cape Town and made arrangements to stay over in a campsite. Meaning... I will have an April issue PRIOR to the tour and will cover the tour in the May newsletter.

During the April issue I will underline some tour aspects that was necessary preparations.
This gives you a good idea of the planning involve with a tour! It's not as easy as to jump in the car and go!
